Mentorship Initiative

The JM:12 Mentorship Initiative provides structured, relationship-based mentoring designed to strengthen protective factors and reduce risk among young men ages 12–19.

Research consistently shows that consistent, positive adult relationships significantly improve academic performance, reduce behavioral risk factors, and increase long-term workforce success. JM12 operationalizes this research through a structured mentorship framework that includes:

• Intentional mentor-mentee matching
• Regular one-on-one mentoring sessions
• Small-group leadership discussions
• Goal-setting and progress monitoring
• Accountability check-ins
• Academic and career pathway guidance

Our mentors are prepared to provide consistent engagement, reinforce positive decision-making, and model responsible leadership. The program prioritizes trust-building, emotional regulation skills, and resilience development, which are critical factors during adolescence and emerging adulthood.
The JM:12 Mentorship Initiative aims to produce measurable outcomes, including:

• Increased school engagement and persistence
• Improved decision-making and conflict resolution skills
• Strengthened self-confidence and leadership capacity
• Clear post-secondary or workforce pathway planning

By providing structured mentorship during critical developmental years, JM:12 works to interrupt cycles of disengagement and expand long-term opportunity for young men.
